Dates and Deadlines
We have summarised some of the most significant dates and deadlines here for you, those applicable to you will be dependent on your circumstances and business structure.
Limited Companies have filing requirements with both Companies House and HMRC to meet.

INDIVIDUALS / SELF EMPLOYED
If you are registered for self-assessment, the following deadlines will be applicable to you in respect of the 2015/16 tax year.
|Make your 1st Payment on Account for 2015/16||31 January 2016|
|Make your 2nd Payment on Account for 2015/16||31 July 2016|
|Register for self-assessment, if not already registered||5 October 2016|
|File your tax return, if filing by paper||31 October 2016|
|File your tax return, if filing electronically||31 January 2017|
|Pay the remaining tax you owe together with your 1st Payment on Account for 2016/17||31 January 2017|
VAT REGISTERED BUSINESSES
The rule of thumb is that your VAT Return must be filed, and any liability paid in full, electronically and within one full calendar month and 7 days following your business quarter end.

As an employer, the following end of year tasks are required in respect of the 2015/16 tax year.
|Submit your final payroll report for the year to HMRC||On or before final payday of the tax year|
|Issue 2015/16 P60’s to employees||31 May 2016|
|Submit 2015/16 forms P9D, P11D and P11Db to HMRC and issue employees with a copy of the information||6 July 2016|
|Pay 2015/16 Class 1A National Insurance owed on expenses and benefits paid to employees||22 July 2016|
